Latest Communications

  • Synergy Recycling will be undergoing construction at our rail spur located at 660 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd during the hours of 3PM-8PM, beginning May 6th 2024 and predicted completion is May 10th 2024. If you have any questions or concerns, please call 404-502-0958.
  • Kingsland’s refinery spring turnaround is scheduled for April 1st through April 8th of 2024. During this time, we will be taking apart equipment and cleaning the internals. We are continuing efforts to minimize excess noise and nuisance odors during this time. We appreciate any feedback from the community in our efforts here.
  • We are excited to roll out this webpage that will allow the Kingsland Refinery to clearly communicate to the Kingsland and Woodbine residents on a regular basis. 
  • We sent out a community letter that provided a number that any resident can call with odor complaints: 781.217.2298
  • We are evaluating air monitoring.
  • We have completed an employee parking lot to reduce roadway parking around the facility.
  • We are currently expanding our Tank Farm to accommodate a new used motor oil feed tank. This is expected to be completed at the end of 2023.
  • We are adding a fire safety loop around the facility to add an additional layer of safety. This will be completed in two phases, with the first phase expected to be complete EOY 2023.
  • We are currently upgrading condensers to improve the refinery's efficiency.

 



LEADERSHIP TEAM

Scott Miller
SVP of Refinery Operations

Scott Miller has worked at Safety-Kleen for over 20 years. He has a Chemical Engineering degree from Colorado School of Mines and an MBA from Purdue University. In his current role, Scott oversees eight re-refineries, including the Kingsland Refinery, one used antifreeze plant and all process safety and mechanical integrity teams for Safety-Kleen and our parent company, Clean Harbors.

Magdalena Kosztyla
VP of Blending and Manufacturing and Refining

Magda has been with Clean Harbors for more than three years. She began as the general manager of the Brampton packaging operation, but quickly progressed to VP of Blending and Packaging for our Brampton, Metarie, St. Rose and Richmond facilities. Magda has a B.S. in Business from the University of Toronto and an MBA from Athabaska University. In addition, Magda also helps oversee the Kingsland Refinery, as well as two others in Safety-Kleen's network.

William Connors
SVP of Environmental Compliance

William Connors has worked at Clean Harbors for 34 years. William has a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Massachusetts and a Juris Doctor from New England School of Law. William is responsible for environmental compliance at each of the Company’s locations in the U.S. and Canada.

Maggie A. Tenant
Vice President of Environmental Compliance

Maggie Tenant has worked at Safety-Kleen for over 18 years. She has an Environmental Science degree from Lake Superior State University. In her current role, Maggie oversees environmental compliance supporting Safety-Kleen and Clean Harbors facilities located within the Eastern and Gulf Coast regions of the U.S.

Joseph Trotta
Refinery General Manager

Joseph has been with Safety-Kleen for over a year now but carries 10 years of used-oil-refining experience. He has a Chemical Engineering Degree from the University of Delaware. In his current role, Joseph oversees the Kingsland Refinery and facility operations.

Jeffery S. Curtis
Sr. Manager of Environmental Compliance

Jeff has been with Safety-Kleen for 18 years, and holds a B.S. in Biology from Florida Atlantic University. He is responsible for environmental compliance at company locations in Florida and Puerto Rico, as well as at the Synergy Recycling LLC refinery here in Kingsland.
